Archie tours the school

It was important for Archie to tour the school and and be prepared to embark on the year ahead. As with our cows before, the first trip to the office can create a little anxiety. All nerves were put to rest when a familiar face was noticed, and then a few reassuring words.

Archi 2013 meeting Bessy from 2011

It was then time for some paperwork and enrolment forms to fill out. Tracey from the office was very kind and helpful. Archie then got to see some school sights, where to have lunch and meet some of the locals.

Enroling on day 1

As we roam the school students are excited about the prospect working with a new cow. As we have had a couple years experience in the program, students are now understanding what the having a 'cow' means to the school.
Students are keen to ask what the THEME is this year, and having seen our cows at the Easter show, are aware of its agricultural implications.
It's not just the students involved with Archie who benefit. It is very rewarding when families see our cow at the Easter Show or displayed elsewhere as there is a roll on effect. Converstaions start, explanations are given to family and friends about the cow. We can explain what the cow is about to them which hopefully passes on our knowledge of what the cow means and how farming affects us all, all this = education!

Model Farms High School has a great environment and is accepting of all new students. The school offers a range of subjects including agricuture so Archie will have a great time getting to meet all the animals and staff from the ag block.

Students at Model Farms love to be involved in many activities so the Art4Agriculture is always very exciting.  Archie will have a chance to visit some classrooms and meet the Teachers.

you did say wool was the theme this year, didn't you?

We have initially been challenged by the thought of connecting our cow to the farming commodity of wool.
After all, wool means sheep, and sheep are not cows...............
There will be  some serious brainstorming to come to  to look at this issue.
As you can see, we have already had some warm donations from our community of various wool products to keep her cosy in the winter months.
